Itrazol is a broad-spectrum antifungal.
Itrazol is a broad-spectrum antifungal preparation, available in capsule form for oral use, with a concentration of 100 milligrams. Itrazol is used to treat the following conditions:
Itrazol is not prescribed for patients with hypersensitivity to the drug or its additives.
Itrazol capsules are prescribed to pregnant women only if there is a life-threatening risk and when the expected benefit outweighs the potential harm to the fetus.
Appropriate contraceptive methods must be used when taking Itrazol capsules until the first menstrual cycle after stopping Itrazol use.
For maximum absorption, Itrazol should be taken immediately after a full meal, and the capsule should be swallowed whole.
Dosage for fungal infections related to gynecological diseases, such as candidiasis of the vulva and vagina:
200 milligrams twice daily for one day.
Or 200 milligrams once daily for three days.
Dosage for fungal infections of the skin or eye such as tinea versicolor or fungal keratitis:
200 milligrams once daily for seven days.
Dosage for fungal skin infections:
200 milligrams once daily for seven days.
Or 100 milligrams once daily for fifteen days.
Dosage for fungal infections in highly keratinized areas, such as tinea affecting the soles of the feet and palms of the hands:
200 milligrams twice daily for seven days.
Or 100 milligrams daily for thirty days.
Dosage for oral candidiasis:
100 milligrams once daily for fifteen days.
Dosage for fungal keratitis:
200 milligrams once daily for twenty-one days.
Notes: In some patients with weakened immunity, such as those with low white blood cell count (neutropenia), acquired immune deficiency, or organ transplant recipients, the oral bioavailability of itraconazole may be reduced; therefore, the dose can be doubled in these patient groups.
Dosage for fungal nail infections:
One-week treatment for fungal nail infections
The one-week treatment consists of 2 capsules (200 milligrams) twice daily for one week. For fungal infections of the fingernails, the treatment lasts two weeks, and for fungal infections of the toenails, the treatment lasts three weeks.
In the one-week treatment, treatment periods are separated by drug-free intervals of three weeks… the therapeutic effect appears as the nails regrow after the end of treatment.
Continuous treatment dosage for fungal nail infections:
2 capsules (200 milligrams) once daily for three months.
Elimination of itraconazole from the skin and nail tissue is slower than from plasma, which is why optimal clinical and laboratory effects appear 2 to 4 weeks after finishing treatment of skin infections, and 6 to 9 months after finishing treatment of nail infections.
