Dulaglutide is used to lower blood sugar (glucose) in adults with type 2 diabetes and can help prevent heart disease.
Do not use dulaglutide:
Do not use it if you are allergic to dulaglutide or any of the other ingredients of this drug.
Warnings and precautions:
Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse before using dulaglutide if:
You are on dialysis as this medication is not recommended.
You have type 1 diabetes (the type in which your body does not produce any insulin) because this medicine may not be suitable for you.
You have diabetic ketoacidosis.
You have severe problems digesting food or food staying in your stomach longer than usual (including gastroparesis).
In the past, I have suffered from inflammation of the pancreas (inflammation of the pancreas), which causes severe stomach and back pain that does not go away.
You are taking a sulfonylurea or insulin for diabetes, as low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) can occur.
Your doctor may need to change your dose of these other medicines to reduce this risk.
This medicine is not an insulin and therefore should not be used as an insulin substitute.
Possible side effects:
Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you experience tightness in the throat, swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, feel faint, or have difficulty breathing.
Stop using the product if you experience hives or itching of the face or body.
Other medicinesand dolaglutide:
Because it can slow stomach emptying which may affect other medicines, tell your doctor, pharmacist or nurse if you are using, have recently used or might use any other medicine.
How to use dulaglutide:
Your doctor may recommend a dose of 0.75 mg once a week to treat your diabetes either because of your individual needs or when using dulaglutide alone.
When used with other diabetes medications, your doctor may recommend a dose of 1.5 mg once a week.
If your blood sugar is not well controlled, your doctor may increase your dose to 3 mg once a week.
If further blood sugar control is needed, the dose may be increased again to 4.5 mg once a week.
Each pen contains one weekly dose of dulaglutide (0.75 mg, 1.5 mg, 3 mg or 4.5 mg).
Each pen gives only one dose.
You can use your pen at any time of the day, with or without meals.
You should use it on the same day every week if you can.
How to store dulaglutide:
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the pen label and carton after EXP.
The expiry date refers to the last day of the same month.
Store in the refrigerator (2°C - 8°C).
Do not freeze.
Store in the original packaging to protect from light.
Dulaglutide can be kept out of the refrigerator for up to 14 days at a temperature not exceeding 30°C.
Do not use this medication if you notice that the pen is damaged, or that the medication is cloudy, discolored, or has particles in it.
