Zahra tablets for birth control.
Ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone
Zahra pills are used as an oral method to prevent unwanted pregnancy.
Contraceptive method:
Days 1-21: One active tablet per day.
If you miss a dose of Zahra pills, contact your doctor immediately for further instructions.
Do not take more than the prescribed dose, and seek emergency medical care in case of overdose of Zahra pills.
Without current use of hormonal contraception:
Consider a pregnancy test before starting.
Days 1-21: Take one active tablet once daily, starting from the first day of menstruation.
Each 21-day pack: start on the same day of the week as the first pack (for example, the day after taking the last tablet).
If you do not start on the first day of menstruation, use non-hormonal contraception (for example, condom and/or spermicide) as backup until an active tablet is taken daily for 7 consecutive days.
Switching from another contraceptive method:
Combined oral contraceptives (COC): start when a new pack of oral contraceptives begins.
Transdermal, vaginal ring, or injection: start when the next dose is scheduled.
Intrauterine system (IUS) or implant: start after removal.
Progestin-only pills: start after taking the last tablet.
Starting after childbirth (20 weeks of pregnancy):
Do not start before 4 weeks after childbirth.
Menstrual cycles resumed: follow the instructions for 'starting estriol/cyproterone in females without current use of hormonal contraception.'
Menstrual cycles not resumed: consider the possibility of ovulation and pregnancy.
If not pregnant, use additional non-hormonal contraception for the first 7 days of use.
Usage limits:
May be less effective in females with a body mass index (BMI) ≥30 kg/m²; reduced effectiveness may be associated with increased BMI.
