Apimol 0.5% eye drops 5 ml:
- It is a medication that belongs to a class of medications called "beta blockers."
- It is used for patients with glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye that can lead to vision loss) to reduce eye pressure.
- It works to reduce fluid in the eye and thus reduces intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
How to use Epimol:
- Wait at least 15 minutes after using this medication before putting in contact lenses.
- Tilt your head back, look up and pull down the lower eyelid to create a pouch.
- Hold the dropper directly above your eye and apply one drop.
- Usually twice daily (12 hours apart) or as directed by your doctor.
- Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
Warnings and precautions:
- Stop using this medication and talk to your doctor right away if you develop allergic eye reactions such as eye redness, itching, rash, or swelling.
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines including prescription medicines, non-prescription medicines, vitamins, supplements, and eye drops.
- This product contains phosphate which may rarely cause calcium buildup during treatment causing hazy spots on the cornea (clear layer at the front of the eye) if you have severe corneal damage.
- This medication should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits outweigh the risks.
- Talk to your doctor:
- Before starting timolol if you currently have or have ever had heart failure, abnormal heart rhythms, coronary heart disease, or low blood pressure.
- Before starting timolol if you currently have or have previously had breathing problems, COPD, or asthma.
- Before starting timolol if you currently have or have had poor circulation (such as Raynaud's disease).
- Before starting timolol if you currently have or have ever had diabetes because this medication may mask the signs and symptoms of low blood sugar.
- Before starting timolol if you currently have or have had hyperthyroidism because this medication may mask signs and symptoms.
- Before starting timolol if you wear soft contact lenses.
- Before starting timolol if you are going to have surgery because this medicine may alter the effects of some medicines used during anesthesia.
- If you experience an allergic reaction such as shortness of breath, rash, swelling of the face or neck.
- If you have an eye infection, eye irritation, or any new eye problems (such as swollen eyelids or eye redness).
- If you have an eye injury.
- If your eye condition gets worse or if you experience new symptoms.
- If you feel an abnormal sensation (pain or tingling) in your eye after applying eye drops.
side effects:
Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain of:
- Temporary blurred vision, temporary burning, stinging, itching, eye redness, watery eyes, dry eyes, dry mouth, feeling as if there is something in the eye.
- Headache, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur.
