Acetab 25 mg 30 tablets - Captopril :
Acetab uses:
- Captopril is used to treat high blood pressure, heart failure (weak heart), kidney problems caused by diabetes, and to survive after a heart attack. Do not take Captopril.
- If you are allergic to the active ingredients, other angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you have ever had a very severe reaction including swelling of the hands, face, lips or tongue where the cause was unknown.
- If you suffer from diabetes or kidney dysfunction and are treated with the blood pressure lowering medicine aliskiren.
- If you are more than 3 months pregnant.
Warnings and precautions:
Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including:
- If you suffer from liver problems.
- If you have kidney problems or are undergoing dialysis.
- If you have heart problems, especially heart valves.
- If you take medicines that suppress your immune system.
- If you have recently had excessive diarrhea or vomiting.
- If you suffer from diabetes.
- If you have rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, or scleroderma.
- If you take an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor or aliskiren.
Possible side effects:
- Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; Itch; red, blistered, or peeling skin; tightness in the chest or throat; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; Unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency with which these side effects occur is unknown.
Serious side effects:
- Angioedema Symptoms may be swelling of the hands, face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing.
Other medicines and captopril:
Tell your doctor especially if you are taking :
- Other angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors.
- Medicines that lower blood pressure.
- Aliskiren.
- Diuretics (water pills).
- Potassium supplements.
- Lithium (for mental illness).
- Medicines that suppress the immune system.
- Gout medications.
- Medicines to treat arrhythmia.
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory pain relievers (NSAIDS).
- Sacubitril.
How to take captopril:
- Take this drug as ordered by your doctor.
- Take this drug at the same time of day.
- Take this drug with or without food.
- The usual dose ranges between 6.25 - 25 mg, 2-3 times a day. Your doctor may increase it to a maximum of 150 mg per day.
