Oprazole injection 40 mg:
It is a proton pump inhibitor, which is an effective treatment for esophageal reflux, indigestion, and stomach ulcers. Omeprazole reduces stomach acid.
Oprazole uses:
- Heartburn treatment.
- Treating stomach ulcers.
- Treatment of duodenal ulcer.
- Treating stomach bacteria, but in this case it is used with a number of other treatments.
- Treatment of esophageal reflux or gastroesophageal reflux disease.
- Treatment of esophagitis resulting from endoscopy.
- Maintain healing of erosive esophagitis.
- Contributing to the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
Omeprazole is not used to soothe inflamed colon or irritable bowel syndrome, but it works to treat high levels of stomach acid, which contributes to the treatment of stomach and duodenal ulcers.
Contraindications for using Oprazole:
Hypersensitivity to any of its components.
Symptoms of hypersensitivity to omeprazole include:
- Angioedema.
- Skin rash.
- Urticaria.
- shortness of breath.
- Reduction of Blood pressure.
- Weak pulse.
Concurrent use with rilpivirine.
Precautions and uses:
Use with caution and under medical supervision if suffering from:
- Liver diseases.
- Kidney disease.
- Lupus.
- HIV.
- Pregnant women are not advised to use omeprazole, except in cases of necessity and under medical supervision, as it is excreted in breast milk. Therefore, it is preferable to avoid breastfeeding during the treatment period, or to space the time between breastfeeding and the time of taking the medication, in accordance with the doctor’s recommendations.
- This medication is allowed to be taken for two weeks.
- Using this medication for longer than 3 years may cause a vitamin B12 deficiency.
- This medication may increase the risk of bone fractures for patients with osteoporosis.
- You should consult a doctor if you notice any new unexplained symptoms, such as black spots, coffee-colored vomit, or do not notice any improvement in symptoms.
It is prohibited to use omeprazole in conjunction with:
- Some antiviral medications, such as rilpivirine and nelfinavir
- Mavacamtin is a medication used to treat heart muscle weakness. Omeprazole may increase blood levels of mavacamtin, leading to heart failure due to systolic dysfunction.
- Erlotinib is a medication used to treat non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and several other types of cancer. Drugs that alter the pH of the upper gastrointestinal tract, such as omeprazole, may alter the solubility of erlotinib and reduce its levels and effect.
- Clopidogrel: Taking the two drugs together should be avoided, as this may impair the metabolic processes involved in converting clopidogrel to its active metabolite.
- Methotrexate: You should avoid taking the two medications together, because it may prolong the stay of methotrexate in the body, which leads to an increased risk of poisoning.
- Digoxin, a heart arrhythmia drug. Omeprazole will increase the level or effect of digoxin by reducing stomach acid when both medications are taken orally.
- Some antifungals, such as itraconazole and ketoconazole. Omeprazole will reduce the level or effect of the antifungals by reducing stomach acid when both medications are taken orally.
- Ampicillin, one of the most commonly used antibiotics. Combination therapy with omeprazole and amoxicillin may cause severe allergic reactions in patients receiving penicillin therapy.
- Some cephalosporin antibiotics, such as cefuroxime and cefpodoxime. Omeprazole will reduce the level or effect of these antibiotics by reducing stomach acid.
- Iron. Concomitant use may reduce the level or effect of iron
- Rifampin, an antibiotic used to treat tuberculosis. Rifampin will decrease the level or effect of omeprazole by affecting hepatic/intestinal enzyme metabolism.
How to use Oprazole:
- Capsules or tablets should be swallowed whole and should not be broken or crushed.
- Omeprazole is not used to immediately relieve heartburn symptoms, but rather it must be taken regularly to feel better.
