Ivarin 10 mg Tablet 30
Scientific name: Rosuvastatin 10 mg tablets.
Uses:
- It is used to lower fats known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood when a low-fat diet and lifestyle changes fail to reduce fats to the required percentage.
- You should maintain a suitable cholesterol-lowering diet during treatment.
How to use:
- Your treatment with rosuvastatin should start at a dose of 5 mg or 10 mg, even if you have taken a higher dose of a different statin before. The choice of starting dose will depend on:
- Your cholesterol levels.
- Your risk level of having a heart attack or stroke.
- Whether you have a factor that may make you more sensitive to potential side effects.
- Your doctor may decide to increase your dose. The maximum daily dose of rosuvastatin is 40 mg.
- Take rosuvastatin once daily.
- You can take it at any time of the day but the most common instruction is to take statins at night. This is because cholesterol production is thought to be higher at night.
- You can take the tablets with or without food.
- Doses may change in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor's instructions.
Side effects:
Side effects are not common to everyone, but some patients may complain of:
- Muscle weakness, pain and tearing These muscle problems can be serious, including muscle breakdown leading to kidney damage.
- Difficulty breathing, with or without swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat.
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat, which may cause difficulty swallowing.
- Severe itching of the skin.
Warnings and precautions:
Do not use this medicine:
- If you suffer from an allergy to any of the components of this medicine.
- If you currently suffer from liver problems.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking rosuvastatin:
- If you suffer from kidney problems.
- If you suffer from liver problems.
- If you experience frequent or unexplained muscle aches or pains, have a personal or family history of muscle problems, or a previous history of muscle problems when taking other cholesterol-lowering medications.
- If your thyroid gland is not working properly.
- If you take other medicines called fibrates to lower your cholesterol.
- If you are taking medicines to treat HIV infection for example. Ritonavir with lopinavir and/or atazanavir.
- If you are taking or have taken in the past seven days a medicine called fusidic acid (medicine for bacterial infections), by mouth or by injection.
- If you are over 70 years old.
- If you suffer from severe respiratory failure.
- If you are of Asian descent - i.e. Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean, Indian.
Preservation method:
- Store at a temperature below 25 degrees Celsius.
- Do not refrigerate the medicine in the refrigerator.
- Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Must be stored in the original packaging to protect it from moisture.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
