Uses:
The medicine is used to prevent attacks of chronic gout in the following cases:
- The body does not respond to allopurinol.
- Severe side effects occur with the use of allopurinol.
- There are contraindications to the use of allopurinol.
How to use:
- When you start using the drug, the severity of the symptoms may increase at first, so it is recommended to use non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or colchicine to relieve the symptoms.
- The medicine is used in the following doses: Initial dose: 40 mg once daily.
- Maintenance dose: Continue the 40 mg dose, or increase the dose to 80 mg once daily, two weeks after the start of treatment, if the uric acid level does not fall below 6 mg/dL.
Warnings and precautions:
The use of the medicine is prohibited in the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.
- High uric acid without symptoms.
- Concurrent use with azathioprine, mercaptopurine, theophylline, or didanosine.
It is preferable to tell the doctor or pharmacist about all medications, herbs, vitamins, and nutritional supplements that you are taking before starting treatment.
It is prohibited to use in conjunction with the following medications:
- Azathioprine medication.
- Mercaptopurine.
- Theophylline.
- Didanosine.
