What are the indications for using insulin glulisine?
Insulin glulisine is an antidiabetic agent, used to lower high blood sugar in diabetics; It can be given to adults, teenagers and children, ages 6 and older. Diabetes is a disease in which your body does not produce enough insulin to control your blood sugar level. It is made by biotechnology. It has a rapid onset within 10-20 minutes and a short duration, about 4 hours.
How to use insulin glulisine:
- Always use this medication exactly as your doctor has told you to.
- Insulin glulisine is injected subcutaneously (under the skin). Insulin glulisine can be injected into the abdominal wall, thigh, or upper arm, or as a continuous infusion into the abdominal wall.
- The effect will be a little faster if the insulin is injected into your abdomen. For all types of insulin,
- Injection sites and injection sites should be within the injection area (abdomen, thigh, or upper arm).
- Alternate from one injection to another.
- Insulin glulisine should be taken shortly (0-15 minutes) before or immediately after meals.
Do not use insulin glulisine:

Possible side effects of insulin glulisine:
- Insulin glulisine can cause serious side effects. These side effects only happen to a small number of people and include:
- low blood sugar
- hypersensitive
- Low potassium in the blood (hypokalemia).
- heart failure
Other medications and insulin glulisine:
- Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take especially those called thiazolidinediones, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, or herbal supplements.
