Nevanac 1 mg/ml eye drops 5 ml:
- Nepafenac is used ophthalmically to treat eye pain, redness, and swelling in patients recovering from cataract surgery (a procedure to treat clouding of the lens in the eye).
- Nipafinaq falls into a class of medications called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
- "It works by stopping the production of certain natural substances that cause pain and swelling."
Usage Instructions:
- Before starting the treatment, read the information leaflet printed by the manufacturer inside the package.
- It will give you more information about the use of eye drops and will also provide you with a complete list of side effects you may experience from using them.
- Use the drops exactly as your doctor tells you.
Usual dose:
- One drop three times a day.
- You may be asked to start using the drops on the day before the surgery and continue using them for several weeks afterward.
How to use the drops:
- Wash your hands first.
- Shake the bottle well and then remove the cap.
- Tilt your head back slightly and pull the lower eyelid down to form a pouch.
- Hold the bottle upside down near your eye. Try not to touch your eye while doing this.
- Gently press on the base of the bottle to release one drop into your eye.
- Close your eye for a minute or two, and gently press on the side of your nose where the corner of your eye meets your nose. This helps to prevent the drop from draining away and keeps it in your eye.
- Repeat the process in your other eye if you are asked to use the drops in both eyes.
- Replace the cover.
Warnings and Precautions:
- Some medications are not suitable for individuals with certain conditions, and sometimes the medication can only be used with extra caution.
For these reasons, before starting to use nepafenac drops, it is important that your doctor knows:
- "If you have ever had an allergic reaction to a medication, it is especially important to inform your doctor if you know you are allergic to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as naproxen, ibuprofen, or diclofenac, or if you have had a bad reaction to aspirin."
- If you have a tendency to bleed easily.
- If you know that you have an eye infection.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- If you suffer from diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis.
- "If you are taking any other medications or using any other eye drops. This includes any medications you are taking that are available for purchase without a prescription, as well as herbal and complementary medicines."
