Realoquin Gel 20 gm:
- Realoquin acts as a local anesthetic, causing reversible blockade of the propagation of impulses along nerve fibers by preventing the inward movement of sodium ions across the nerve membrane.
- Amide-type local anesthetics are thought to act within sodium channels in the nerve membrane.
Instructions for use:
Realoquin Gel is absorbed after applications on mucous membranes or damaged skin:
- Surface anesthesia: male urethra: 20 g of gel.
- Adult female urethra: 5-10 g of gel. During cystoscopy: 30 g of gel.
- During endoscopy: 10-20 g of gel.
- Lubrication for endotracheal intubation: 5 g applied to the surface of the tube immediately before insertion.
- Debilitated patients, the elderly and children should be given doses appropriate to their age and physical condition.
Contraindications :
- Hypersensitivity to local anesthetics of the amide type or to other components of the gel.
Warnings and precautions:
- Lidocaine Gel should be used with caution in patients with mucosa and/or sepsis in the area of proposed application.
- When using lidocaine gel in the mouth or throat area, the patient should be aware that application of local anesthetic may impair swallowing and thus increase the risk of shock.
- Use during pregnancy and lactation: Lidocaine should not be given during early pregnancy unless a physician recommends administration of the drug.
- Lidocaine is excreted in breast milk, but in small amounts there is generally no risk of affecting the baby.

- Allergic reactions (in most cases severe anaphylactic shock) to amide-type local anesthetics are rare.
