Scientific name: Rosuvastatin 20 mg tablets.
Uses:
- It is used to lower fats known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood when a low-fat diet and lifestyle changes fail to reduce fats to the required percentage.

How to use:
- If you are taking rosuvastatin for high cholesterol your treatment with rosuvastatin should start at a dose of 5 mg or 10 mg, even if you have taken a higher dose of a different statin before. The choice of starting dose depends on:
- Your cholesterol levels.
- Your risk level of having a heart attack or stroke.
- Whether you have a factor that may make you more sensitive to potential side effects.
- Your doctor may decide to give you the lowest dose (5 mg) if:
- I was of Asian descent (Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean and Indian).
- You are over 70 years old.
- You have moderate kidney problems.
- You are at risk of developing muscle pain (myopathy).
- Your doctor may decide to increase your dose until you take the right amount of rosuvastatin for you.
- If you start with a dose of 5 mg, your doctor may decide to double this dose to 10 mg, then 20 mg and then 40 mg if necessary.
- The maximum daily dose of rosuvastatin is 40 mg.
- If you are taking rosuvastatin to reduce your risk of heart attack, stroke, or related health problems: The recommended dose is 20 mg daily. However, your doctor may decide to use a lower dose if you have any of the above factors.
- The dosage in children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years is 5 to 20 mg once daily.
- The usual starting dose is 5 mg per day, and your doctor may gradually increase your dose to find the right amount of rosuvastatin.
- The maximum daily dose of rosuvastatin is 10 or 20 mg for children ages 6 to 17 years depending on your underlying condition being treated.
Side effects:
Side effects are not common to everyone, but some patients may complain of:
- Muscle weakness, pain and tearing These muscle problems can be serious, including muscle breakdown leading to kidney damage.
- Difficulty breathing, with or without swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat.
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue and/or throat, which may cause difficulty swallowing.
- Severe itching of the skin.
Warnings and precautions:
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking rosuvastatin:
- If you suffer from kidney problems.
- If you have liver problems.
- If you experience recurring or unexplained muscle aches or pains, have a personal or family history of muscle problems, or a previous history of muscle problems when taking other cholesterol-lowering medications.
- If you regularly drink large amounts of alcohol.
- If your thyroid gland is not working properly.
- If you take other medicines called fibrates to lower your cholesterol.
- If you are taking medications to treat HIV infection.
- If you are taking or have taken in the past seven days a medicine called fusidic acid.
- If you are over 70 years old.
- If you have severe respiratory insufficiency.
- If you are of Asian descent - i.e. Japanese, Chinese, Filipino, Vietnamese, Korean, Indian.
Preservation method:
- Store at a temperature below 25 degrees Celsius.
- Do not refrigerate the medicine in the refrigerator.
- Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Must be stored in the original packaging to protect it from moisture.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
