Scientific name: Pentoxifylline 400 mg tablets.
This medication belongs to a class of medications known as circulatory stimulants.
Uses:
- It is used to treat patients with intermittent claudication (muscle pain that occurs with mild exertion, usually during exercise and in the leg muscle).
How to use:
- Adults: The recommended dose for adults is one extended-release tablet (400 mg) orally three times a day.
- Children: The safety and effectiveness of this medication in children has not yet been proven.
- Seniors: Your doctor may recommend monitoring your kidney function and may adjust your dose accordingly.
- Take the tablet with food.
- Take the tablet with a full glass of water.
- It may take 2 to 4 weeks for the medication to take effect and it is recommended to take this medication for a minimum of 8 weeks.
- If you develop digestive or nervous system side effects, your doctor may reduce your dose to twice a day.
- If signs persist even after reducing the dose, your doctor may recommend stopping the medication completely.
side effects:
- Abdominal discomfort, bloating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, indigestion, dizziness, headache, tremors and blurred vision.
- Possible side effects include signs of an allergic reaction, such as rash and itching, and signs of cardiovascular problems, such as chest pain and irregular heartbeat.
Warnings and precautions:
- Be sure to tell your doctor if you have ever had a risk of bleeding.
- Your doctor may recommend frequent monitoring of blood tests (such as hemoglobin and hematocrit) to check for bleeding.
- Talk to your doctor if you take blood pressure medications.
- Your doctor may recommend monitoring your blood pressure regularly and may adjust the dose of medications accordingly if necessary.
- Stop taking the medicine immediately and talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you develop allergic reactions such as shortness of breath, rash, swelling of the face or neck, low blood pressure, or dizziness.
Interaction with other medications:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking:
- If you are taking antiplatelets or anticoagulants (blood thinners such as warfarin).
- If you are taking medicines containing theophylline.
- If you take blood pressure medications (such as nifedipine or captopril).
Preservation method:
- Store at a temperature below 25 degrees Celsius.
- Don't get cold.
- Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Must be stored in the original packaging to protect it from moisture.
- Do not use damaged grains.
