Scientific name: Empagliflozin 25 mg + Linagliptin 5 mg tablets.
Uses:
- Empagliflozin is used to treat type 2 diabetes in adult patients (aged 18 years and older) whose blood sugar cannot be controlled by diet and exercise alone.
- Empagliflozin may be used in patients who cannot take metformin (another diabetes medicine).
- Empagliflozin may also be used with other medicines to treat diabetes and these may be oral or injectable medicines such as insulin.
- It is important to continue with your diet and exercise plan as told by your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.
How to use:
- Always take this medication exactly as your doctor has told you.
- The starting dose of empagliflozin is one 10 mg tablet once a day and your doctor may decide whether to increase your dose to 25 mg once a day.
- Swallow the tablet whole with water.
- You can take the tablets with or without food.
- You can take the tablets at any time of the day. However, try to take it at the same time every day. This will help you remember to take it.
- Proper diet and exercise help control your sugar better.
- Doses may change in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor's instructions.
Side effects:
Side effects are not common to everyone, but some patients may complain of:
- Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).
- Urinary tract infection.
- Fungal infection in the genital areas.
- Increased urine volume.
- Rash or red skin.
- Thirst.
- Blood tests may show increased levels of blood fats (cholesterol) in the blood.

- If you suffer from type 1 diabetes.
- If you are experiencing rapid weight loss.
- If you have serious kidney or liver problems.
- If you are at risk of dehydration.
- If you are 85 years of age or older.
- If you have a serious kidney or urinary tract infection with a high temperature.
Preservation method:
- Store at a temperature below 25 degrees Celsius.
