Meligliptin 100 mg tablets belong to the oral diabetes medicines.
How meligliptin-sitagliptin works:
- Sitagliptin is an inhibitor of DPP-4, an enzyme that degrades the incretin hormones including glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1).
- Incretin helps the body produce more insulin only when it is needed and reduces the amount of glucose produced by the liver.
Uses of melegliptin 100 mg :
- Your doctor has prescribed this medication to help lower your blood sugar, which is too high because of your diabetes.
- This medication may be used alone or in combination with certain other medications (insulin, metformin, sulfonylureas, or glitazones) that lower blood sugar that you may already take for your diabetes along with food and exercise regulation.
How to use melegliptin 100 mg:
- The usual recommended dose is one 100 mg tablet orally once daily.
- If you have kidney problems, your doctor may prescribe lower doses (such as 25 mg or 50 mg). You can take this medicine with or without food and drink.
- Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more medicine than you should, talk to your doctor or go to hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
Warnings and precautions:
Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had:
- Disease of the pancreas (such as pancreatitis).
- Gallstones, very high levels of triglycerides (a type of fat) in the blood.
- These medical conditions can increase your chance of developing type 1 diabetes pancreatitis.
- Diabetic ketoacidosis (complication of diabetes with high blood sugar, rapid weight loss, nausea or vomiting).
- Any previous or current kidney problems.
- Allergy to one of the components of the drug.
