It is a laxative for constipation and usually takes effect within ten minutes of use. It is considered a carbon dioxide effervescent laxative. It contains sodium bicarbonate and potassium binitrate carried on polyethylene glycol.
After introduction, the polyethylene glycol dissolves and gives an oily effect that aids in excretion. Then the remaining substances combine with the water present in the stool to form small bubbles of carbon dioxide, which gently massage the intestinal walls and promote peristalsis, making evacuation easier and faster.
