Ketotifen 1 mg/5 ml syrup.
What is Ketotifen and what is it used for:
- Ketotifen is a second generation antihistamine and non-competitive mast cell stabilizer.
- It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions including rhinitis and conjunctivitis.
How to take Ketotifen:
- Adults: 5 ml twice daily.
- Children over 3 years: 5 ml twice daily
- Children between 6 months and 3 years: 2.5 ml twice daily
- If you have sedation tendencies, start with 2.5 ml twice daily.
- You can increase the dose up to 10 ml daily if necessary.
Do not take ketotifen:
- Hypersensitivity to ketotifen.
Warnings and precautions:
- It should not be used to treat severe asthma attacks.
- It can reduce the ability to reflect.
- Platelet monitoring.
Possible side effects:
- Anesthesia.
- Dizziness.
- Dry mouth.
Other medicines and ketotifen:
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
- Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications:
- Any diabetes medication because of the risk of platelet changes (metformin, dapaglifosin, linagliptin)
- Tranquilizers (lorazepam, midazolam), hypnotics (phenobarbital), antihistamines (chlorpheniramine, loratadine) or alcohol due to increased effects if used together.
