Ketotifen is a second generation antihistamine and non-competitive mast cell stabilizer.
It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions including rhinitis and conjunctivitis.
How to take Ketotifen:
Adults: 5 ml twice daily.
Children over 3 years: 5 ml twice daily
Children between 6 months and 3 years: 2.5 ml twice daily
If you have sedation tendencies, start with 2.5 ml twice daily.
You can increase the dose up to 10 ml daily if necessary.
Do not take ketotifen:
Hypersensitivity to ketotifen.
Warnings and precautions:
It should not be used to treat severe asthma attacks.
It can reduce the ability to reflect.
Platelet monitoring.
Possible side effects:
Anesthesia.
Dizziness.
Dry mouth.
Other medicines and ketotifen:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications:
Any diabetes medication because of the risk of platelet changes (metformin, dapaglifosin, linagliptin)
Tranquilizers (lorazepam, midazolam), hypnotics (phenobarbital), antihistamines (chlorpheniramine, loratadine) or alcohol due to increased effects if used together.
