Histofen 0.2 mg/mL Ketotifen Oral Syrup 100 mL:

Ketotifen 1 mg/5 ml syrup.

What is Ketotifen and what is it used for:

• Ketotifen is a second generation antihistamine and non-competitive mast cell stabilizer.
• It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of allergic conditions including rhinitis and conjunctivitis.

How to take Ketotifen:

• Adults: 5 ml twice daily.
• Children over 3 years: 5 ml twice daily
• Children between 6 months and 3 years: 2.5 ml twice daily
• If you have sedation tendencies, start with 2.5 ml twice daily.
• You can increase the dose up to 10 ml daily if necessary.

Do not take ketotifen:

• Hypersensitivity to ketotifen.

Warnings and precautions:

• It should not be used to treat severe asthma attacks.
• It can reduce the ability to reflect.
• Platelet monitoring.

Possible side effects:

• Anesthesia.
• Dizziness.
• Dry mouth.

Other medicines and ketotifen:

• Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
• Tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications:
• Any diabetes medication because of the risk of platelet changes (metformin, dapaglifosin, linagliptin)
• Tranquilizers (lorazepam, midazolam), hypnotics (phenobarbital), antihistamines (chlorpheniramine, loratadine) or alcohol due to increased effects if used together.
