Dexamethasone Neomycin Eye Drops
Why dexamethasone neomycin is used:
- Neomycin is an antibiotic. It is used to treat bacterial infections. Dexamethasone is a steroid.
- It is used to treat infections associated with bacterial infections of the eye. Neomycin and dexamethasone ophthalmic are used to treat bacterial infections of the eye.
How to use Dexamethasone Neomycin:
- Use neomycin and dexamethasone eye drops exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.
- Wash your hands before and after using eye drops.
To apply eye drops:
- Tilt your head back slightly and pull your lower eyelid down.
- Place the dropper over your eye. Look up and away from the dropper. Squeeze out a drop and close your eye.
- Apply gentle pressure to the inner corner of your eye (near your nose) for about a minute to prevent fluid from draining into your tear duct.
- Repeat the procedure in the other eye if your doctor prescribed drops in both eyes.
- If you are using more than one drop in the same eye, repeat the process with about 5 minutes between drops.
Do not use dexamethasone neomycin:
- Do not use patients with hypersensitivity to the active ingredients.
- Patients with herpes simplex keratitis, fungal or viral infections of the eye, tuberculosis, or infection following uncomplicated removal of a foreign body from the eye.
- Children under two years of age.
Warnings and precautions:
This medicine should not be taken without consulting a doctor:
- If you are pregnant or while breastfeeding.
- If you suffer or have suffered in the past from asthma, from impaired eye function (glaucoma, optic nerve damage, cataracts or any type of eye infection), from diabetes or hearing impairment, and viruses.
- If you are allergic to any type of food or medicine.
Possible side effects:
- Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you experience tightness in the throat, swelling of the eyes, face, lips, or tongue, feel faint, or have difficulty breathing.
- Stop using the product if you experience hives or itching of the face or body.
Medications and other dexamethasone neomycin:
- If you are using another medicine at the same time on the eye If you have just finished treatment with another medicine, tell your doctor in order to prevent risks and lack of effectiveness resulting from drug interactions.
- Tell your doctor if you are taking an oral steroid medication such as prednisone.
- It is important to tell your doctor if you are using other eye products, and it is necessary to separate the medication by 15 minutes from another if using more than one medication at the same time.
