Quzal 50 mg tablets belong to psychiatric medications.

How to use Quetiapine:

• Although the mechanism of action of quetiapine is not fully understood, there are several proposed mechanisms.
• In schizophrenia, its actions can occur from the inhibition of dopamine type 2 (D2) and serotonin 5HT2A receptors.
• In bipolar depression and major depression, the actions of quetiapine may be attributed to the association of this drug or its metabolite with the norepinephrine transporter.
• The additional effects of quetiapine, including drowsiness, orthostatic hypotension, and anticholinergic effects, may result from antagonism of H1 receptors, α1 adrenergic receptors, and M1 muscarinic receptors, respectively.

Uses of Quzal 50 mg Tablets:

Quetiapine can be used to treat many conditions, such as:

• Bipolar depression and major depressive episodes in major depressive disorder: where you feel sad. You may find that you feel depressed, guilty, lack energy, lose your appetite, or cannot sleep.
• "Mania: where you may feel intense excitement or happiness or agitation or enthusiasm or excessive energy or poor judgment including aggression or restlessness."
• Schizophrenia: where you may hear or feel things that are not there, believe in things that are not true, or feel unusually suspicious, anxious, confused, guilty, tense, or depressed.

How to use Quzal 50 mg tablets:

• You will take your tablets once a day.
• Do not split, chew, or crush the tablets.
• Swallow tablets whole with water.
• Take your tablets without food (at least one hour before a meal or at bedtime, your doctor will tell you when).
• Do not drink grapefruit juice while taking Quetiapine, as it can affect how the medication works.
• "Do not stop taking your pills even if you feel better, unless your doctor tells you to."
• Your doctor will decide the starting dose. The maintenance dose (daily dose) depends on the severity of your illness.

Warnings and precautions:

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine:

• Dizziness (may lead to falling), headache, dry mouth.
• Feeling drowsy (this may go away over time, as you continue to take the medication Quetiapine).
• Symptoms of withdrawal (the symptoms that occur when stopping the intake of Quetiapine) include inability to sleep (insomnia), feelings of nausea, headache, diarrhea, vomiting, and dizziness.
• Abnormal muscle movements. These include difficulty initiating muscle movements, or tremors, or feelings of tightness or stiffness in the muscles without pain.
• Changes in the amount of some fats (triglycerides and total cholesterol).
• Increased heart rate
• Constipation and upset stomach (indigestion).
