Xifaxan 200 mg 12 tablets:

• Xifaxan contains the active ingredient rifaximin alfa.
• Rifaximin is an effective gastrointestinal antibiotic used to treat irritable bowel syndrome with prevalent diarrhea, traveler's diarrhea in adults, and hepatic encephalopathy.

Instructions for use:

• Always be sure to use Xifaxan exactly as your doctor has told you.
• You can take Xifaxan with or without food. Take the tablets with a glass of water.
• If you forget to take a dose at the right time, take the missed dose as soon as you remember and take the next dose at your usual time.

Warnings and precautions:

• If you are using activated charcoal, take Xifaxan at least 2 hours after taking charcoal.
• Do not interrupt the prescribed treatment period on your own.
• Consult your doctor before taking Xifaxan, if you have a bowel obstruction, or if you have diarrhea accompanied by fever or blood in the stool.
• Rifaximin may cause urine to turn red.
