Scientific name: Domperidone.

Uses:

•  To relieve the symptoms of chronic gastritis. 
• To relieve symptoms of nausea and vomiting.
• To alleviate the symptoms of gastroparesis associated with diabetes. 
• To control nausea and vomiting associated with Parkinson's disease treatments.

How to use:

• Shake the bottle before use.
• Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose for you.
•  For the treatment of nausea and vomiting: Adults and children > 35 kg: 10 mg three times daily.
• Children under 35 kg: 0.25 mg/kg three times daily for one week.
• It is recommended to take Amistop suspension before meals.
• If the drug is taken after meals, absorption of the drug may be delayed.

Warnings and precautions:

It is prohibited to use domperidone without consulting a specialist doctor in the following cases:

• Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any other component of the treatment.
•  Gastrointestinal obstruction, perforation, or bleeding.
•  The presence of a tumor stimulates the secretion of prolactin in the body.
•  Heart disorders, most notably QT interval prolongation, torsade de pointes, and bradycardia.
•  The drug greatly affects the heart and its rhythm, especially if the patient is over 60 years old and receives a dose greater than 30 mg/day.
•  Suffering from electrolyte disorders, the most important of which are low or high potassium in the blood, and low magnesium in the blood. 
• Concurrent treatment with ketoconazole.
•  Moderate to severe liver disorders.
•  Children under 12 years of age.

Domperidone is used with caution and under the supervision of a doctor in the following cases: 

• Patients with a medical or family history of breast cancer. 
• Patients with liver disorders.
•  Diabetics, because it contains lactose.
•  Pregnancy and breastfeeding periods. 
• Patients with a family history of long QT syndrome, or history of torsade de pointes. 
• Patients receiving treatment are recommended to have an ECG before starting and during treatment. 
•  Patients over the age of 60 years have electrolyte imbalance, and it is recommended to adjust electrolyte and mineral levels before using the drug. 
• Glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome.
•  Hereditary fructose intolerance and lactose intolerance. 
• Severe renal impairment, which requires the use of a dose lower than the recommended dose for these patients.

It is recommended not to use domperidone in conjunction with the following medicines:

•  Antiprolactin medications, such as bromocriptine.
•  Opiate analgesics. 
• Ketoconazole, which is used to treat fungi.
•  Erythromycin, one of the antibiotics.
•  Amantadine, which is used to treat viral infections.
•  Indapamide, a thiazide diuretic.
•  Chlorpromazine, an antipsychotic. 
• Medicines used to treat heart rhythm disorders, such as quinidine and amiodarone.
