Natrilex SR 1.5 mg 30 Tablets:
Indapamide 1.5 mg extended release tablets.
How Natrilex (Indapamide) works:
- Dual mechanism of action: it acts as a diuretic on the distal part of the nephron in the kidney and acts as a vasodilator, both of which contribute to lowering blood pressure.
- The extended-release formulation (SR) contains ingredients that help move the drug through the body.
What are the reasons for using Natrix:
- Natrilex can be used to treat high blood pressure. It can be used alone or in combination with other high blood pressure medications.
- Most diuretics increase the amount of urine excreted by the kidneys. However, Natrix is different from other diuretics, because it causes only a slight increase in the amount of urine produced. In addition, Natrilex dilates blood vessels so that blood passes through more easily. This helps lower blood pressure.
Do not take Natrilex:
- If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to indapamide, any other sulfonamide, or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you have severe kidney disease.
- If you have severe liver disease or suffer from a condition called hepatic encephalopathy (liver problems affecting the brain and central nervous system).
- If you have low levels of potassium in your blood (hypokalemia).
Warnings and precautions
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Natrilex:
- If you suffer from gout or diabetes.
- If you have kidney problems.
- If you suffer from an overactive parathyroid gland (hyperparathyroidism).
- If you suffer from heart rhythm problems.
- If you have liver problems.
- If you suffer from decreased vision or eye pain
- If you have ever had an allergy to penicillin or sulfonamides.
- If you are an athlete, this may result in a positive reaction in drug tests.
Possible side effects:
- Angioedema and/or urticaria.
- Severe skin reactions.
- Severe stomach pain.
- Heart arrhythmia.
- Abnormal liver function.
- Fatigue, weakness, confusion, and muscles that are stiff or don't work well.
- Irritability and trembling of your muscles.
- Lumpy, itchy rash.
- More infections than usual or bruising more easily.
- Increased thirst, hunger and weight loss.
- Photosensitivity reactions.
- Low potassium in the blood.
- Low sodium in the blood.
- High blood sugar levels in diabetics.
- Increased levels of calcium in the blood.
How to use Natrix:
- Always take this medication exactly as your doctor has told you. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- Continue taking this medication until your doctor tells you to stop. It may take several months before this medication shows its full effect.
- The tablets can be taken with or without food.
- Swallow the tablets whole with water.
- The average dose of the drug is one tablet once a day in the morning.
- Keep taking indapamide until your doctor tells you to stop taking it. Treatment for high blood pressure is usually lifelong.
- Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more than you should, talk to your doctor or go to hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
