Uses of Agout 80 mg tablets:
- Febuxostat is used to treat high levels of uric acid in the blood in gout patients. It is used to treat chronic gout.
- Febuxostat is also used to treat and prevent high levels of uric acid in the blood in adults with leukemia who are undergoing chemotherapy.
How to use Agout 80 mg tablets:
- This medicine is intended for adults over 18 years of age only.
- Take the medication as directed by your doctor.
- The usual recommended dose is 40 mg once daily.
- Your doctor may increase it to 80 mg once daily if you do not achieve your desired goal. The dose may be increased to 120 mg once daily.
- Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more medicine than you should, talk to your doctor or go to hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
Do not take febuxostat:
- If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
- If you are taking any of the following drugs: azathioprine or mercaptopurine.
Warnings and precautions:
Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including, if you have:
- If you suffer from liver or kidney problems.
- If you have heart problems or a history of heart disease or stroke.
- If you are being treated for cancer or have a health problem known as Lesch-Nyhan syndrome.
- People with heart disease who receive this drug have a higher risk of death from heart problems than patients who take allopurinol.
- You may experience liver problems after using this drug.
- You may have more gout attacks after you start taking this drug. Don't stop taking it.
