Scientific name: Sulfamethoxazole 800 mg + trimethoprim 160 mg tablets.

Uses:

It is used to treat:

• Bladder or urinary tract infections (water infections).
• Respiratory infections such as bronchitis.
• Ear infections such as otitis media.
• Nocardia infection that can affect the lungs, skin and brain.

How to use:

• Always take this medication exactly as your doctor has told you.
• Make sure to finish for the duration prescribed by your doctor.
• The dose of medication and how long you need to take it depends on the type and severity of the infection.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose.
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

side effects:

The following side effects are not common to everyone, but some patients may complain of:

• High levels of potassium in the blood, which may lead to an irregular heartbeat (palpitations).
• Fungal infection.
• headache.
• Feeling nauseous.
• Diarrhea.
• rash.

Warnings and precautions:

Talk to your doctor before taking the medicine if you have:

• If you suffer from severe allergies or asthma.
• If you have kidney disease.
• If you don't have enough folic acid (vitamin) in your body - which may make your skin pale and make you feel tired, weak and short of breath. This is known as anemia.
• If you suffer from a disease called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.
• If you have a metabolic problem called phenylketonuria and are not following a special diet to help your condition.
• If you are elderly.
• If you are underweight or malnourished.

Preservation method:

• Store at a temperature below 25 degrees Celsius.
• Do not refrigerate the medicine in the refrigerator.
• Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
• Must be stored in the original packaging to protect it from moisture.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
