Scientific name: Lansoprazole 30 mg capsule
Use of the medicine:
For adults:
- Duodenal ulcer (an ulcer that forms at the beginning of the small intestine).
- Eradication of H Pylori (bacteria that can live in your intestines and cause ulcers) to prevent recurrence of duodenal ulcers.
- Benign stomach ulcer (a non-cancerous ulcer that forms in your stomach).
- NSAID-related ulcers (ulcers that form in your intestines due to excessive use of NSAIDs).
- Esophageal reflux (acid reflux also known as “heartburn”).
For children:
- Esophageal reflux.
- Erosive esophagitis (acid esophagitis).
- Cases of pathological hypersecretion (intestinal problems leading to increased acid secretion).
Do not take medicine:
If you are allergic to lansoprazole, or any other ingredients this medication contains. Tell your doctor about the symptoms you experience.
Warnings and precautions:
- Long-term use of this medication may cause low blood magnesium levels.
- Use of this medication may be associated with Clostridium Difficile diarrhea (a bacterial infection of the stomach causing diarrhea). Be sure to tell your doctor if you have diarrhea.
- Prolonged and multiple daily use of this medication may cause osteoporosis and put you at risk for fractures.
side effects:
Although it may be rare, some patients may experience unwanted side effects when taking this medication, including:
- Signs of an allergic reaction, such as a rash.
- Signs of low magnesium levels such as weakness, muscle stiffness, and changes in heart rhythm.
- Seizures (convulsions).
- Diarrhea, nausea, headache, constipation, stomach pain.
- Abnormal or rapid heartbeat.
- Cramps in the feet and hands, muscle pain, throat spasms.
Other medicines and lansoprazole:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any of these medicines:
- If you are taking atazanavir (used to treat HIV).
- If you take warfarin (a blood thinner).
- If you are taking tacrolimus (an immunosuppressive medicine).
- If you are taking theophylline (used to treat airway spasms).
- If you are taking methotrexate (an immunosuppressive medicine).
How to store Peptazol 30 mg capsule:
- Store the medicine at a temperature between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius.
- Keep the medicine out of the reach of children and pets.
- Do not use the medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
- Keep the medicine in its original container so that it is not exposed to moisture.
- Do not take damaged pills.
- Do not dispose of the medicine in wastewater or household waste.
