Dexamethasone sodium, ampoules, anti-inflammatory - 5 ampoules
Dexamethasone reduces inflammation and suppresses the immune system and is normally used in patients with:
- Severe allergic reactions causing swelling of the face and throat, hypotension and collapse (angioedema and anaphylaxis).
- Shock from infection or acute tuberculosis (also with anti-infective treatments such as antibiotics).
- Raised pressure in the skull due to tumors or infantile spasms.
Sometimes, the injection is given in the painful area itself, for example. Arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis).
How to use Dexamethasone Ampoules:
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
- It is taken by injection by a doctor or nurse.
- If you take more than you should, talk to your doctor or go to a hospital right away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is nearly time for your next dose
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a forgotten dose.
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Special side effects:
Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects.
Stomach upset, heartburn, headache, trouble sleeping, increased appetite, or pain, redness, and swelling at the injection site may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Tell your doctor right away if you have any serious side effects, including:
Signs of infection (such as sore throat that doesn't go away, fever), bone and joint pain, fast, slow, and irregular heartbeat, eye pain and pressure, vision problems, unusual weight gain, swelling of the face, swelling of the ankles and feet, symptoms of stomach bleeding Bowel (eg, stomach and abdominal pain, black and tarry stools, vomit that looks like coffee grounds), mental and mood changes (eg, depression, mood swings, irritability), menstrual changes, muscle aches and cramps, weakness, easy bruising and bleeding, slow wound healing, thinning of the skin , seizures.
Warnings and Precautions:
You should also tell your doctor if you:
- You have symptoms of tumor lysis syndrome such as muscle cramps, muscle weakness, confusion, loss of vision or disturbances and shortness of breath, in case you have a malignant hematoma.
- If you suffer from kidney or liver problems
- You suffer from diabetes or a relative suffers from diabetes
- You suffer, or you suffer from, a stomach or duodenal ulcer
- If you suffer from osteoporosis (thinning and weakening of the bones).
- You have heart failure or have recently had a heart attack
- If you suffer from high blood pressure
- You have had muscle weakness with these or other steroids in the past
- You suffer from glaucoma (increased pressure inside the eye) or a close relative suffers from glaucoma
- You have ever had amebiasis (a tropical infection that causes diarrhoea)
- You suffer from epilepsy
- She suffers from schizophrenia
- I have ever had tuberculosis
- Have myasthenia gravis (weak muscles causing disease)
- You have an eye infection with the herpes virus
