Suprax 200 mg 8 Capsules
Scientific name: Cefixime 200 mg capsule.
Uses:
- It is used to treat acute infections when caused by susceptible microorganisms: such as respiratory infections and urinary tract infections.
How to use:
- Cefixime is used orally.
- The usual course of treatment is 7 days. This may be continued for up to 14 days if necessary.
- Dosages:
- Adults and children over 10 years or who weigh more than 50 kg: The recommended dose is 200-400 mg daily depending on the severity of the infection, given either as a single dose or in two divided doses.
- Elderly: Elderly patients may be given the same dose recommended for adults.
- Children under 10 years: It is not recommended to use cefixime 200 mg tablets for children under 10 years.
Side effects:
- Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop hives, rash, chest tightness, wheezing, and low blood pressure.
Warnings and precautions:
- The dose must be adjusted according to the degree of renal impairment.
- Cefixime can predispose to the risk of encephalopathy (which may include convulsions, confusion, impaired consciousness and movement disturbances), especially in the case of overdose or renal impairment.
- Cefixime may cause acute kidney failure.
- A false-positive reaction to urine glucose may occur with Benedict or Fehling solutions or with copper sulfate test tablets, but not with tests based on enzymatic glucose oxidase reactions.
- A false-positive direct Coombs test has been reported during treatment with cephalosporin antibiotics, so it should be known that a positive Coombs test may be due to the drug.
Preservation method:
- Store at a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.
- Store in the original packaging in order to protect from moisture.
- Keep this medicine out of the reach and sight of children.
- Do not dispose of medications in wastewater or household waste.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the package.
