Humble beginnings

Nubian Heritage is the brainchild of two New York street vendors. In 1992, fresh graduates without jobs, Rich and Nima embarked on a mission to produce luxurious natural products from traditional African recipes using organic, fair trade ingredients. Today Nubian Heritage offers hundreds of authentic natural products inspired by ancient, traditional healing philosophies. Although Nubian Heritage products are no longer made in bathtubs, little has changed. The company still produces its own products, still uses fair trade and organic ingredients, and still invests in community commerce.

For centuries, African Black Soap, made from palm trees, tamarind extract and banana peels, has been used in Africa to cleanse and care for the skin. Historical references indicate that shea butter, which is the origin of African pharmacy, goes back in its historical origins to the shea butter caravans that go back to Cleopatra in Egypt. Complementing the detoxifying properties of the ingredients, they symbolize purity and a strong African community identity with their own unique designs.
