Andronic acid tablets have been prescribed by your doctor to treat or prevent osteoporosis if you are at risk. It is recommended if you have osteoporosis or want to reduce your risk of developing this disease.
Contraindications to use:
- Do not take alendronic acid tablets if you:
- Are allergic to alendronic acid or any of its other ingredients.
- Have certain issues with your esophagus (such as narrowing or difficulty swallowing).
- Are unable to stand or sit upright for at least 30 minutes after taking the medication.
- Have a low blood calcium level as recommended by your doctor.
Warnings and precautions:
- It is important to tell your doctor if you:
- Have kidney or gastrointestinal issues.
- Have Barrett's esophagus or a history of Barrett's esophagus.
- Have or have had cancer.
- Take corticosteroid medications or are a smoker.
Possible side effects:
- Some patients may experience the following side effects:
- Heartburn or difficulty swallowing.
- Pain while swallowing or ulceration of the esophagus causing chest pain or heartburn.
Method of use:
- For the treatment of osteoporosis in men or postmenopausal women: The recommended dose is 10 mg once daily.
- For the prevention of steroid-induced osteoporosis in postmenopausal women: The recommended dose is 10 mg once daily.
How to store:
- This medication should be kept out of the reach of children.
- Do not use the tablets after the expiration date on the box.
- The medicine does not need special storage conditions.
- Do not dispose of medicines through sewage or household waste.
