Alendronic acid tablets once weekly 70 mg

Why use alendronic acid tablets:

Your doctor has prescribed alendronic acid either because you have osteoporosis or are at risk of developing this disease.
Do not take alendronic acid tablets if you:

You are allergic to alendronic acid, the active ingredient, or any of the other ingredients of this drug
You have certain disorders of your esophagus (the tube that connects your mouth to your stomach), such as narrowing or difficulty swallowing
You cannot stand or sit upright for at least 30 minutes
Your doctor has told you that you have a low level of calcium in your blood
Warnings and Precautions:

It is important to tell your doctor before taking alendronic acid tablets if:
You suffer from kidney problems
You have any swallowing or digestive problems
Your doctor has told you that you have Barrett's esophagus
you have cancer
You are taking corticosteroids
you are or have been a smoker
Possible side effects:

heartburn; Difficulty swallowing Pain when swallowing. Ulceration in the esophagus causing chest pain, heartburn, or difficulty or pain when swallowing.
Other medicines and alendronic acid tablets:

Calcium supplements, antacids and some oral medications are likely to interfere with the absorption of alendronic acid tablets if they are taken at the same time.
Certain medications for rheumatism or long-term pain called NSAIDs (such as acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) or ibuprofen) can cause digestive problems.
How to take alendronic acid tablets:

recommended dose
For the treatment of osteoporosis in men or postmenopausal women, the recommended dose is 10 mg once a day.
For the prevention of steroid-induced osteoporosis in postmenopausal women who are not receiving hormone replacement therapy (HRT) with estrogens, the recommended dose is 10 mg once a day.
How to store alendronic acid tablets:

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
Do not use alendronic acid tablets after the expiry date, which is stated on the carton and blister after "EXP".
The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
This medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions
Do not dispose of any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
The form and route of administration of alendronic acid once 70 mg per week should be prescribed according to the indication and disease severity for each individual patient.
