Hydroxychloroquine is used in the following cases:
• To treat rheumatoid arthritis.
• To treat lupus (autoimmune diseases affecting the skin and internal organs).
• To prevent or treat malaria in certain cases.
• You are allergic to the active ingredients or any other components of this medication.
• You have an eye problem affecting the retina.
Inform your doctor about all your health conditions, including:
• If you have liver or kidney problems.
• If you have stomach issues.
• If you have heart problems.
• If you have eye problems.
• If you have psoriasis.
• If you have nervous system problems.
• If you have porphyria, a blood disorder.
• If you have a hereditary condition called glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.
Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight while taking this medication.
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; itching; red, blistered, or peeling skin; chest or throat tightness; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency of these side effects is unknown.

Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking.
Hydroxychloroquine interacts with the following drugs:
• Certain antibiotics
• Medications affecting heart rhythm
• Medications for epilepsy
• Medications for myasthenia gravis
• Medications affecting the eyes
• Medications for diabetes
• Medications used to reduce stomach acidity
• Cimetidine
• Tamoxifen
• Digoxin
• Cyclosporine
• Methotrexate
• Rabies vaccine
• Praziquantel
• Take this medication as prescribed by your doctor.
• Take this medication with food or milk.
• Swallow whole. Avoid chewing, breaking, or crushing.
• Antacids should not be taken within 4 hours of this medication.
• For rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, the usual dose is one or two tablets once or twice daily.
• For malaria prevention, the usual dose is two tablets once weekly.
• For malaria treatment, the usual dose is 800 mg once, then 400 mg after 6 hours, 12 hours, and 48 hours from the first dose.
• For children, the dose depends on the child's weight. Your doctor will determine the dose.
