Atacand Plus 16/12.5 mg 28 Tablets:

What is candesartan cilexetil/hydrochlorothiazide used for?:

• Candesartan cilexetil/hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat high blood pressure. It combines two medications that work in different ways to lower blood pressure.
• Do not take candesartan cilexetil/hydrochlorothiazide
• If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• If you are allergic to sulfonamide (sulfa) medications.
• If you suffer from severe liver disease.
• If you suffer from severe kidney disease.
• If you have difficulty urinating or are unable to urinate.
• If you have diabetes or kidney problems and are being treated with the medicine called aliskiren.
• If you are pregnant.
• In children under one year of age.

How to take candesartan cilexetil/hydrochlorothiazide:

• Take this medication as ordered by your doctor.
• Take this drug at the same time of day.
• Take this medication with or without food.
• The usual dose is one tablet once daily.
• Maximum dose: 32 mg of candesartan cilexetil and 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide.

Warnings and precautions:

Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including:

• If you suffer from kidney problems.
• If you suffer from liver problems.
• If you have heart problems or heart failure.
• If you have gout.
• If you suffer from diabetes.
• If you are vomiting or have recently had severe vomiting or diarrhea.
• If you have low blood pressure.
• If you have ever had a heart attack or stroke.
• If you are taking any of the following medications: angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (such as enalapril, lisinopril, ramipril) aliskiren, an aldosterone receptor antagonist (MRA).

Possible side effects:

• Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; Itch; red, blistered, or peeling skin; tightness in the chest or throat; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; Unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency with which these side effects occur is unknown.

Side effects include:

• Dizziness
• low blood pressure
• Headache

• upper respiratory tract infection

Other medicines and Candesartan cilexetil/hydrochlorothiazide:

• Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take.

Tell your doctor especially if you are taking:

• Other medicines that lower blood pressure. Other diuretics (water pills).
• Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen and diclofenac.
• Lithium (for mental health problems).
• Potassium supplements.
• Diabetes medications.
• Some cholesterol-lowering medications such as cholestyramine.
• Calcium and vitamin D supplements.
• Corticosteroids.
• Alcohol.
• Barbiturates.
