Atrovent 250 mcg inhalation solution
Scientific name: Ipratropium 250 mcg/2 ml vial.
Uses:
- It is used to make breathing easier for people with breathing difficulties, such as chronic asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
How to use:
- Always take this medication exactly as your doctor has told you.
- Before you start using this medication for the first time, it is important that you read and follow the instructions on how to use it carefully.
- Dosages will depend on your medical condition.
- Daily doses >1 mg for children <12 years or>2 mg for adults and children >12 years should be given only under close medical supervision.
- For children: 25 mg of ipratropium bromide 3-4 times a day.
- Adults: 0.5-25 mg ipratropium bromide 3-4 times a day.
- Rinse your mouth with water after finishing taking the dose.
- Doses may change in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor's instructions.
Side effects:
Side effects are not common to everyone, but some patients may complain of:
- Wheezing or difficulty breathing.
- Allergic reactions.
- Throbbing.
- Headache, dizziness.
- Dry mouth, nausea, stomach upset or discomfort.
- Cough and throat irritation.
Warnings and precautions:
- Severe hypersensitivity reactions may occur in rare cases after inhalation, and may manifest as skin rash, urticaria, angioedema, bronchospasm, oropharyngeal edema in addition to anaphylaxis.
- Inhaled medications can cause paradoxical bronchospasm that can be life-threatening.
- Patients with cystic fibrosis may have an increased risk of gastrointestinal motility disorders when treated with ipratropium bromide.
Preservation method:
- Store at a temperature below 25 degrees Celsius.
- Do not refrigerate the medicine in the refrigerator.
- Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Must be stored in the original packaging to protect it from moisture.
- Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the package.
