Benzaflex 10 mg 30 tablets:
- Benzaflex is a prescription medication used short-term to treat muscle spasms. It is usually used with rest and physical therapy.
- It works by helping to relax the muscles
Indications for non-use:
- Avoid use if you are hypersensitive to Benzaflex or if you have hyperthyroidism.
- During the acute recovery phase of myocardial infarction and in patients with arrhythmias, heart block, conduction disturbances or congestive heart failure.
- Do not use simultaneously with or within 14 days of stopping antidepressants.
- Hyperthermic crisis episodes and deaths have occurred in patients receiving Benzaflex (or similar tricyclic antidepressants) concomitantly with antidepressants.
How to use:
- Adults: 5 mg orally every 8 hours, the dose may increase to 7.5-10 mg orally every 8 hours as needed.
- Seniors: Immediate-release tablet: 5 mg/day orally initially; Escalate dose slowly and consider less frequent dosing.
Warnings and precautions:
- Use only for short periods, 2-3 weeks.
- Use caution in cases of urinary retention, narrow-angle glaucoma or intensive outpatient program, or concurrent use of other anticholinergic drugs.
- May cause drowsiness/dizziness.
- Do not take alcohol or other central nervous system depressants because they may impair the ability to operate heavy machinery.
- It can be taken with food to avoid stomach upset.
- Serotonin syndrome has been reported when taken with other drugs that increase serotonin (e.g., selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, tramadol, bupropion, meperidine, verapamil, or antidepressants [انظر أيضًا] Contraindications].
- Not effective in treating spasticity associated with brain/spinal cord disease or pediatric cerebral palsy.
- Elderly patients may be more susceptible to adverse effects and need to reduce dose/frequency.
- Use immediate-release with caution in cases of hepatic impairment. Avoid the extended-release form as it is not recommended with liver dysfunction.
Possible side effects:
Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you experience:
- Tightness in the throat, swelling of the eyes, face, lips or tongue, or you feel faint or have difficulty breathing.
- Hives or itching of the face or body.
