Betnovate N Cream belongs to the topical antibiotic preparations.
How to make Betnovate N Cream 30 gm:
- This product consists of two active ingredients; Betamethasone valerate and neomycin sulfate.
- Betamethasone valerate belongs to a class of medications known as “topical corticosteroids” that work to reduce inflammation, itching, and redness of the skin.
- Neomycin sulfate is a medication that belongs to a class known as “aminoglycoside antibiotics” and works by helping to eliminate bacteria that may lead to skin infections.
Uses of Betnovate N Cream:
- This medication is used to help reduce redness and itching of certain skin problems. These skin problems include eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, lichen simplex chronicus, pruritus nodularis, or insect bites, where infection may be a problem.
- Eczema (a common skin disorder that causes the skin to become itchy and red).
- Seborrheic dermatitis (a chronic skin problem that causes the skin to become itchy, swollen, and cracked in circular or oval patches)
- Psoriasis (thickened patches of red and inflamed skin, usually covered with silvery scales), except for diffuse plaque psoriasis.
- Lichen planus (itchy, flat red to purple bumps on the forearms, lower legs, or wrists).
- An allergic skin reaction (such as contact dermatitis) caused by an allergen or substance that comes into contact with your skin.
- Otitis externa (inflamed, flaky, red skin of the outer ear and ear canal).
- Skin reactions due to insect bites.
- Seborrheic dermatitis (a scaly, red, itchy rash on the scalp, chest, back, and face).
- Prickly heat (a rash caused by sweat trapped in the skin).
- Genital and anal folds (a rash that usually affects the skin folds of the vagina or penis due to skin friction and moisture).
- Nodular pruritus (formation of hard, itchy lumps on the skin).
- Lichen simplex chronicus (patches of itchy skin caused by scratching).
How to use Betnovate N Cream:
- Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist tells you.
- Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
- The recommended dose is:
- Apply a thin layer of the product and massage it gently into the affected area. Usually, 1 to 2 times daily for up to 7 days.
- Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
- If you take more medicine than you should, talk to your doctor or go to hospital straight away.
- If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose
- Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
Warnings and precautions:
- Stop taking the medicine immediately, and talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you develop any allergies or skin reactions to any of the ingredients in this cream/ointment, such as:
- Itchy skin, skin redness, shortness of breath, rash, swelling of the face or neck, low blood pressure, and dizziness.
- This medication is intended for external topical use only. Do not swallow this product.
- Avoid contact of the cream/ointment with your lips, eyes, mouth, sensitive areas of the neck and corners of the nose to avoid irritation.
- In case of accidental contact, be sure to rinse the area well with warm water, then allow it to dry.
- Do not use this product for more than 7 days unless recommended by your doctor.
- If your skin doesn't feel better or gets worse after 7 days, talk to your doctor to re-evaluate.
- Talk to your doctor if you do not use this product as directed to make sure he/she does not change you to another treatment thinking that this medication is not right for you.
- Do not share this medication with anyone else even if they have the same signs.
- Do not use tight diapers or plastic pants if this product will be used in the diaper area of young children.
- You are more likely to get an allergic reaction or infection if you apply this product to an area of skin with eczema around a leg ulcer.
- Talk to your doctor if you have a leg ulcer
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
side effects:
Although the following side effects are not common in everyone, some patients may complain of:
- A feeling of burning, irritation, or itching where the ointment was applied
- If you have psoriasis, you may develop raised bumps with pus under the skin. This can occur during or after treatment and is known as pustular psoriasis.
- Side effects if you use the product for a long time, use it too much each time you apply it, or place it under an airtight bandage or under a diaper:
- Stretch marks may develop
- Veins under the surface of the skin may become more visible
- Increased hair growth and changes in skin color
- Thinning of the skin that may be damaged more easily
- Weight gain, rounded face, and high blood pressure. These are more likely to occur in infants and children.
