Blopress Plus 8/12.5mg 28 Tablets:
Blopress Plus tablets belong to antihypertensive medications.
How candesartan and hydrochlorothiazide work:
- Candesartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that works by blocking the effect of angiotensin II in the body, which causes blood vessel constriction.
- As a result, candesartan relaxes blood vessels, lowering blood pressure and increasing the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart.
- Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits the transport of sodium chloride into the blood, causing more sodium to be excreted in the kidneys along with the accompanying fluid, thus increasing diuresis, which in turn reduces blood volume and ultimately blood pressure.
- With long-term use, sustained reduction of arterial pressure by a thiazide diuretic (TZD) is thought to occur through a decrease in vascular resistance.
Uses of Blopress Plus:
- Treatment of hypertension in adult patients when monotherapy with candesartan cilexetil or hydrochlorothiazide alone is insufficient.
- High blood pressure is a common condition in which the long-term force of blood pressure against the walls of your arteries is high enough that it can eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease.
- Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular diseases, especially strokes and myocardial infarction.
