COVERAM 5/10 Tablets belongs to antihypertensive drugs.

How perindopril and amlodipine tablets work:

• Perindopril belongs to the group of "angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors", a class of medications used primarily to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. They work by causing the blood vessels to relax and widen as well as a decrease in blood volume, leading to lower blood pressure and decreased oxygen consumption by the heart
• In addition, perindopril inhibits the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II and inhibits the breakdown of vasodilatory prostaglandins, which reduced vascular constriction, which is regulated by angiotensin II, and promotes vasodilation.
• Amlodipine inhibits the flow of calcium ions into cells, with a greater effect on smooth muscle cells in blood vessels, leading to vasodilation and reducing blood vessel resistance to the passage of blood, thus lowering blood pressure.

Uses of Coveram 5/10 Tablets:

• It is used to treat high blood pressure
• High blood pressure is a common condition in which the long-term force of blood pressure against the walls of your arteries is high enough that it can eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease.
• Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular diseases, especially strokes and myocardial infarction.

How to use Coveram 5/10 Tablets:

• Always take this medication exactly as your doctor has told you. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water.
• You should try to take your daily dose at around the same time every day.
• You should continue taking the medication until your doctor tells you otherwise.
• The disc may not be broken in half
• You can take the tablets with or without food.
• To treat high blood pressure: The usual dose of tablets is one tablet once a day, but your doctor may increase the dose to reach your target blood pressure.
• This medicine is not recommended for use in children
• . The recommended starting dose should be 2.5 mg perindopril and 2.5 mg amlodipine
• The active substances are taken as separate tablets in elderly patients.
• This medication is indicated for long-term treatment.
• Doses may be changed in special circumstances, so always follow your doctor or pharmacist's instructions.
• If you take more medicine than you should, talk to your doctor or go to hospital straight away.
• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose
