Dapazin 10 mg 30 tablets:
Dapagliflozin 10 mg coated tablets.
Why is Dapagliflozin used?
- It is used in adult patients (18 years and older). Dapagliflozin is used for a type of diabetes called type 2 diabetes, where your body does not produce enough insulin or cannot use the insulin it produces properly. This leads to high blood sugar levels.
Do not use Dapagliflozin:
- If you are allergic to dapagliflozin or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
How to use Dapagliflozin:
How much do you take:
If you take dapagliflozin for type 2 diabetes:
- The recommended dose is one 10 mg tablet every day.
- Your doctor may start you on a dose of 5 mg if you have a liver problem.
- Your doctor will describe the appropriate strength for him.
Taking this medicine:
- Swallow the tablet whole with half a glass of water.
- You can take your tablet with food or without it.
- You can take the tablet at any time of the day. However, try to take it at the same time every day; this will help you remember to take it.
Warnings and precautions:
Contact your doctor or nearest hospital immediately:
- If you feel nauseous or sick, have stomach pain, extreme thirst, rapid and deep breathing, confusion, drowsiness or unusual fatigue, a sweet smell in your breath, a sweet or metallic taste in your mouth, a different smell in your urine or sweat, or rapid weight loss.
- The symptoms mentioned above may be a sign of "diabetic ketoacidosis" - a serious, sometimes life-threatening problem that can occur in diabetes due to increased levels of "ketone bodies" in the urine or blood, which are detected in tests.
- The risk of developing diabetic ketoacidosis may increase with prolonged fasting, excessive alcohol consumption, dehydration, a sudden reduction in insulin dosage, or an increased need for insulin due to major surgery or serious illness.
- "When treated with dapagliflozin, diabetic ketoacidosis can occur even if blood sugar levels are normal."
If you suspect you have diabetic ketoacidosis, contact your doctor or the nearest hospital immediately and do not take this medication.
Possible side effects:
Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if you experience:
- Tightness in the throat, swelling of the eyes, face, lips or tongue, or you feel faint or have difficulty breathing.
- Hives or itching of the face or body.
Other medications and Dapagliflozin:
Tell your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse if you are taking or have recently taken or might take any other medicines.
Tell your doctor specifically:
- • If you are taking a medication that is used to remove water from the body (diuretic). Your doctor may ask you to stop taking Dapagliflozin.
- • If you have type 2 diabetes and are taking other medications that lower blood sugar levels, such as insulin or a "sulfonylurea" medication, your doctor may want to reduce the dose of these other medications to prevent you from having low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia).
