Uses:

Dextrose (like glucose) has the following uses, depending on the concentration:

• To add fluids to your body after fluid loss.
• To treat low blood sugar levels (hypoglycemia).
• To treat high levels of potassium in the blood.

Dosage:

• It is given by intravenous injection and the dosage is as directed by your doctor.

Warnings and precautions:

Talk to your doctor about all of your medical conditions before receiving this medication including

• Diabetes.
• Dehydration.
• You are malnourished.
• You have any type of impaired glucose metabolism.
• You have difficulty urinating.
• Problems with your kidneys.
• Have recently suffered a brain injury.

Possible side effects:

Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop:

• Red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin.
• Tightness in the chest or throat. Difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking.
• Chills.
