Esidrex 25 mg 20 tablets:

Hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg tablets.

Hydrochlorothiazide is used for:

• To treat high blood pressure.
• To treat water retention in the body.

How to take hydrochlorothiazide:

•  This property is intended for adults.
•  Take this drug as ordered by your doctor.
•  If you are taking this medication once daily, take it in the morning.
•  To treat water retention: The usual starting dose is 25-100 mg daily in two divided doses. Your doctor will adjust your dose based on your response (maximum 200 mg/day).
•  To treat high blood pressure: The usual dose is 12.5 - 25 mg once daily (maximum 50 mg/day).

Do not take hydrochlorothiazide: 

•  If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
•  If you are unable to urinate.
•  If you are taking lithium.

Warnings and precautions:

Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including:

• • If you are allergic to sulfonamide or sulfonylurea antibiotics.
• • If you suffer from kidney problems.
• • If you suffer from liver problems.
• • If you suffer from heart problems.
• • If you suffer from diabetes.
• • If you have low blood pressure.
• • If you suffer from dehydration.
• • If you have abnormal levels of electrolytes in your blood.
• • If you suffer from glaucoma.
• • If you have gout.
• • If you have an autoimmune disease called systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Possible side effects:

• Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; Itch; red, blistered, or peeling skin; tightness in the chest or throat; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; Unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency with which these side effects occur is unknown.

Serious side effects:

• Kidney problems.
• Eye problems.
• Serious changes in electrolyte levels.

Other medicines and hydrochlorothiazide:

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take.

Hydrochlorothiazide interacts with the following drugs:

•  Lithium.
•  Digoxin.
•  Other medicines used to lower blood pressure.
•  Medicines that affect potassium levels in the blood.
•  Medicines used to treat diabetes.
•  Steroid-free anti-inflammatory drugs.
•  Steroids.
•  Cholestyramine and colestipol (for cholesterol).
