Metronidazole is an antibacterial and antimicrobial drug.

It works by causing DNA damage leading to the death of infection-causing cells.

Specific Medical Uses:

It can be used, under medical supervision, to treat:

• Infections caused by bacteria.
• Urinary or genital tract infections caused by parasites.
  
• Genital infections in women caused by bacteria.
  
• Parasitic diseases such as amoebiasis.
  
• Gum and dental infections.
  
• Infected leg ulcers.
• Stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori.
• Prevention of infections occurring after surgeries.
  

How to Use:

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist told you.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
Doses may vary from patient to patient depending on your age, medical condition, and whether you are taking other medications.
