Topical antibiotic preparations
The Fusidic Acid-Betamethasone product contains two different types of medicines. One medicine is called Fusidic Acid. It is a type of antibiotic.
The other medicine is called Betamethasone. It is a type of corticosteroid (steroid). These two medicines work simultaneously in different ways.
The antibiotic kills the germs (bacteria) that cause infections.
The corticosteroid reduces any swelling, redness, or itching of your skin.
It is used to treat conditions where the skin is inflamed (eczema or dermatitis) and also bacterial infections.
Always make sure to use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
This medicine is usually recommended to be used twice daily.
Doses may vary in special conditions, so always follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions.
If you take more than you should, talk to your doctor or go to the hospital immediately.
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is time for the next dose.
Do not take a double dose (two doses at the same time) to make up for a missed dose.
Although the following side effects are not common for everyone, some patients may experience:
Skin irritation
Burning sensation
Itching
Worsening of your eczema
Stinging sensation
Redness of the skin
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop a rash; chills; craving, eagerness; red, swollen, ulcerated, or peeling skin; wheezing. Chest or throat tightness. Difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine.
Your doctor will discuss the potential risks and benefits of using this medicine during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
