Amoxicillin (Clavox 1 gm) is an antibiotic in a group of medicines called penicillins. Amoxicillin (Clavox 1 gm) fights bacteria in the body.
Potassium clavulanate is a form of clavulanic acid (Clavox 1 gm), which is similar to penicillin. Potassium clavulanate fights bacteria that are often resistant to penicillin and other antibiotics.
The combination of amoxicillin (Clavox 1 gm) and potassium clavulanate is used to treat many different infections caused by bacteria, such as sinusitis, pneumonia, ear infections, bronchitis, urinary tract infections, and skin infections.
Clavox 1 gm is used to treat children with recurrent or persistent acute middle ear infection caused by colds (including beta-lactamase producing strains) characterized by the following risk factors:
Exposure to antibiotics for acute middle ear infection during the previous three months, and any of the following:
Age ≤ 2 years
Incubation period
Each coated tablet contains amoxicillin trihydrate (Clavox 1 gm) equivalent to amoxicillin (Clavox 1 gm) 500 mg, and potassium clavulanate equivalent to clavulanic acid (Clavox 1 gm) 125 mg, respectively.
Take twice daily after meals as directed by the doctor.
For treatment of streptococcal blood infection, a duration of no less than 10 days is recommended to prevent late complications.
