Laxatrol is formulated with a unique combination of two active ingredients:

• Sennosides, known as stimulant laxatives, work by retaining water in the intestines, which helps move the intestines, and docusate sodium, which is a stool softener, helps increase the amount of water in the stool, making it softer and easier to excrete, providing effective relief. Instructions for use:

grown ups:

• One to four tablets daily in divided doses or as a single daily dose, preferably in the evening.

children:

• From 2 to 6 years: one tablet daily.
• From 6 to 12 years: one to two tablets daily.

Possible side effects:

Like all medicines, Laxatrol can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them:

• Stomach/abdominal pain, cramping, nausea, or diarrhea may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
• This medication may cause urine to turn reddish-brown. This effect is harmless and will disappear when use of the medication is discontinued.
• Symptoms of overdose may include: severe stomach/abdominal pain or cramping, persistent nausea/vomiting/diarrhea.
• What if you forget to use Laxatrol™: If your doctor tells you to take this medication on a regular schedule and you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.
• Unless directed by a doctor, docusate-senna should generally not be used to treat chronic constipation for a prolonged period of more than one week.
