Lescol XL 80 mg 28 tablets:

Fluvastatin 80 mg extended release tablets.

Why is fluvastatin used:

Fluvastatin is used to lower “bad” cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. It can also raise "healthy" cholesterol levels. Fluvastatin reduces the risk of heart disease and slows the buildup of cholesterol in the arteries of the heart.

How to take fluvastatin:

•  Take this drug as ordered by your doctor.
•  Take this medication with or without food.
• Your doctor should advise you to follow a low-fat diet before taking fluvastatin.
•  The usual recommended dose is one tablet once daily.

Do not take fluvastatin:

• If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• If you have liver problems.
• If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Warnings and precautions:

Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including, if you have:

• Muscle pain or weakness.
• diabetic.
• Thyroid problems.
• Kidney problems.
• Heart disease.
• You drink more than two glasses of alcohol per day.

Possible side effects:

Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; Itch; red, blistered, or peeling skin; tightness in the chest or throat; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; Unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency with which these side effects occur is unknown.

Serious side effects:

• Muscle problems.
• Dog problems.

Other medicines and fluvastatin:

Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take.

Fluvastatin interacts with many other medications. Especially tell your doctor if you are taking medicines for:

• Immune system.
• Cholesterol.
•  Heart failure.
• Seizures.
• diabetic.
• Antivirals.
• Birth control.
