Micardis Plus 80/12.5 mg 28 Tablets:
- Micardis Plus is a combination of two active ingredients, telmisartan and hydrochlorthazide, in one tablet. Both active ingredients are used to control high blood pressure.
- Telmisartan belongs to a group of blood pressure medications called angiotensin II inhibitors.
- Angiotensin II is a substance produced by the body that causes constriction of blood vessels and thus raises blood pressure.
- Telmisartan works by inhibiting the effect of angiotensin II so that blood vessels dilate and blood pressure decreases.
- Hydrochlorothiazide belongs to a group of medicines called thiazide diuretics, which increase urine excretion and cause blood pressure to fall.
- If high blood pressure is not treated, it can damage blood vessels in many organs, which can sometimes lead to a heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, stroke, or blindness.
- High blood pressure usually causes no symptoms until the damage is done.
- Therefore, it is important to measure blood pressure regularly to ensure that it is within the normal range.
- Micardis Plus is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults who do not achieve adequate blood pressure control with telmisartan alone.
