Why is guaifenesin used?
Guaifenesin is used to treat coughs that contain mucus (productive cough).

Caveats and precautions

If you have a prolonged cough due to asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
If you have a cough that produces a lot of mucus.
If you have been coughing for more than 7 days, or if you have other symptoms, contact your doctor.
Possible side effects
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a rash; Itch; red, blistered, or peeling skin; chest or throat tightness; trouble breathing, swallowing, or talking; Unusual hoarseness or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency with which these side effects occur is not known.

How to take guaifenesin
This property is intended for adults and children 12 years and over.
Take this drug as ordered by your doctor.
Take this drug with or without food.
Tablets are swallowed whole. Avoid chewing, breaking, or crushing.
The usual recommended dose is one or two extended-release tablets every 12 hours. Do not exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours.
For syrup, the usual recommended dose is 10 - 15 ml 4 times a day.
How to store guaifenesin
Store at room temperature 68 to 77 degrees F (20 to 25 degrees C).
Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the carton.
