Normoten 50 mg 28 tablets:

Atenolol tablets 50 mg.

Why use tablets Normoten:

• Treating high blood pressure (hypertension).
• Treatment of irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia).
• Help prevent chest pain characterized by a painful sensation of tightness in the chest (angina).
• Cardioprotection in early treatment after a heart attack (myocardial infarction).

How to take tablets Normoten:

High blood pressure (hypertension):

• The usual dosage for adults is 100 mg once a day.

Certain types of chest pain (angina):

• The usual dosage for adults is 50-100 mg once a day.

Certain heart rhythm disturbances (arrhythmias):

• The usual dosage for adults is 50-100 mg once a day.

Do not take atenolol tablets:

•  If you are allergic (severe hypersensitivity) to atenolol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
•  If you suffer from any of the following heart problems: 

     either Heart failure that cannot be controlled.

     either Second or third degree heart block.

     either Very slow or irregular heartbeats, and severe drop in blood pressure or severe weakness in circulation.

     either If you are suffering from a tumor called a pheochromocytoma that has not been treated.

  either If you have higher than normal acid levels in your blood.

Warnings and precautions:

 Talk to your doctor before taking atenolol tablets if:

• If you suffer from asthma, wheezing, or other similar breathing problems, or have allergic reactions, such as to insect stings.
• You have a type of chest pain (angina) called Prinzmetal's angina.
• You have poor circulation or heart failure.
• You have first-degree heart block.
• You have diabetes.

Possible side effects:

Stop taking atenolol tablets if you notice any of the following serious side effects:

•  Allergic reactions.
•  Abnormal heartbeat, feeling dizzy, tired or faint.
•  Shortness of breath or swelling of the ankles.
