Olmetec 40/12.5 mg 28 tablets:

Do not take olmesartan/hydrochlorothiazide:

•  If you are allergic to olmesartan medoxomil, hydrochlorothiazide, any of the other ingredients of this medication, or substances similar to hydrochlorothiazide (sulfonamides)
• If you have serious kidney problems
• If you have diabetes or kidney dysfunction and are being treated with a blood pressure lowering medicine containing aliskiren
• If you have low potassium or sodium, high calcium, or high blood uric acid levels (with symptoms of gout or kidney stones) that do not improve with treatment
• If you have serious liver problems, yellowing of the skin and eyes, or problems draining bile from your gallbladder.

Warnings and precautions:

• Mild to moderate kidney problems or if you have recently had a kidney transplant
• Liver diseases
• Heart failure or problems with the heart valves or heart muscles
• Vomiting or diarrhea is severe or lasts for several days
• Treatment with high doses of water tablets or if you are on a low-salt diet
•  Problems with the adrenal glands
• diabetic
• Lupus erythematosus
• Allergies or asthma
• If you have ever had skin cancer or if you have an unexpected skin lesion during treatment.

Possible side effects:

• Dizziness, headache, nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, stomach pain, gastroenteritis, fatigue, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, bronchitis, flu-like symptoms, cough, aching, pain in the chest, back, bones or joints Urinary tract infection, swelling of the ankles, feet, legs, hands, or arms, blood in the urine.
• Some changes in blood test results.
• Lack of energy, muscle cramps, poor kidney function, kidney failure.
• Lack of appetite or loss.
• Swollen and ulcerated salivary glands, bone marrow damage, insomnia, feelings of depression, sleep problems, apathy, tingling, numbness, cramps, blurred vision, dry eyes, irregular heartbeat, vasculitis, blood clots, and pneumonia. Fluid accumulation in the lungs, pancreatitis, jaundice, gallbladder infection.
• Electrolyte disturbance leading to an abnormal level of chloride in the blood.

How to take Olmesartan/Hydrochlorothiazide:

• Always take this medication exactly as your doctor has told you to. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• The recommended dose is one olmesartan/hydrochlorothiazide 20 mg/12.5 mg tablet per day. However, if your blood pressure is not controlled, your doctor may decide to change your dose to one olmesartan/hydrochlorothiazide 20 mg/25 mg tablet per day.
• Swallow the tablet with water. If possible, you should take your dose at the same time every day, eg at breakfast time. It is important to continue taking olmesartan/hydrochlorothiazide until your doctor tells you to stop.
