Fluticasone propionate is used to treat symptoms of allergic rhinitis (nose allergies) such as nasal congestion, runny nose, nasal itching, and sneezing when used as a nasal spray. It can also be used to treat small growths inside the nose (polyps) when used in the form of nasal drops.
Do not use fluticasone propionate:
- If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any other component of this medicine.
How to use fluticasone propionate:
- This medication is intended for adults and children 4 years of age and older.
- Use as directed by your doctor.
- Use this medication in your nose only.
- For nasal spray for adults and children ages 12 and over: The recommended dose is two sprays in each nostril once daily, preferably in the morning.
- For nasal spray for children aged 4 to 11 years: The recommended dose is one spray in each nostril once daily, preferably in the morning.
- For nasal drops: The usual recommended dose is 400 micrograms (1 single-dose container) divided equally between the nostrils once or twice daily.
Warnings and precautions:
Talk to your doctor about all your medical conditions before taking this medication including:
- If you suffer from eye problems such as glaucoma.
- If you have recently had nose surgery.
- If you have any current infection.
- If you suffer from adrenal gland problems.
Possible side effects:
- Stop using this product and seek immediate medical help if you develop symptoms of a rash; or urticaria; or itching; redness, swelling, blisters, or peeling skin; or wheezing when breathing; or tightness in the chest or throat; or difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; Or unusual hoarseness in the voice; Or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.

- Minor nosebleeds (epistaxis) if used for more than 6 weeks
Other medicines and fluticasone propionate:
Fluticasone propionate interacts with the following medications:
- Antifungal ketoconazole
- Ritonavir and cobicistat are used to treat AIDS
- Other corticosteroids
- Some medications used to treat asthma
