Physiotens 0.4 mg 28 tablets:

  • Physiotens contains an active ingredient called moxonidine.
  • This active substance belongs to the group of medicines called "antihypertensives".
  • Physiotens is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension).
  • It works by inhibiting nerve signals to the muscles in the blood vessels, causing the blood vessels to relax and dilate. This helps lower blood pressure.

Instructions for use:

  • The usual starting dose is 0.2 mg daily in the morning.
  • If sufficient therapeutic effect is not achieved, the dose can be increased to 0.4 mg after 3 weeks.
  • The dose may be given as a single dose or divided into two doses.
  • If the effect is still insufficient, the dose can be increased to 0.6 mg after another 3 weeks.
  • Daily doses of more than 0.6 mg and single doses of more than 0.4 mg should not be exceeded.
  • The dose should be adjusted individually depending on the patient's response.

Do not use Physiotens if:

  • You are allergic (hypersensitive) to moxonidine or any of the other ingredients in Physiotens.
  • You have a slow heartbeat caused by a heart condition called an “abnormally functioning sinus node” or “second- or third-degree AV block” You have heart failure.
  • Do not take Physiotens if any of the above applies to you.
  • If you are unsure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Physiotens

Exercise caution when using Physiotens:

Consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking Physiotens if:

  • You have a heart problem called "first-degree AV block"
  • You have serious cardiovascular disease or unstable heart contractions (angina)
  • You have kidney problems. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking Physiotens if any of the above applies to you (or if you are not sure).
  • Physiotens can cause dry mouth with an increased risk of tooth decay, so be careful with your oral hygiene.
  • Pregnant or become pregnant during treatment.

Use of other medicines with Physiotens:

  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using or have recently used other medicines. This also applies to over-the-counter medicines, including natural medicines.
  • Physiotens can affect the way other medicines work and other medicines can affect the way Physiotens works.
  • In particular,

 Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of the following medicines:

  • Other medications to treat high blood pressure.
  • These can increase the effect of phytonutrients.
  • Medicines for depression such as trimipramine, clomipramine, nortriptyline, doxepin or amitriptyline (tricyclic antidepressants)
  • Tranquilizers or sleeping pills such as benzodiazepines
  • Beta blockers.
  • Physiotens are removed from the body through the kidneys through a process called tubular secretion.
  • Other medicines that are removed by the kidneys in the same way can affect the way physotinate works.
  • Consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking physical medicines if any of the above applies to you (or if you are not sure).

Take Physiotens with food and drink:

  • The tablets can be taken with or without food.
  • Do not drink alcohol while using Physiotens because Physiotens  can increase the effects of alcohol.
